May 2nd Meeting – Helpful PHP Libraries

Meeting Start Time: Tue, 02 May 2006 18:45:00 -0700

The plan is to cover a set of packages that help you accomplish those basic needs when developing with PHP.  If they are any members that would like to present a package of there own choosing just contact skeen [sam.sjk -at- gmail.com].

The short list of what we will cover

  • PEAR Mail [Send HTML emails and add attachments with ease]

  • PEAR Flexy [compared and contrasted with Smarty] This templating engine is 1/4 the size of smarty and works with html templates that are extremely friendly to WYSIWYG HTML editors and the designers that wield them.
  • PEAR Cache_Lite [cache output and function returns for increased performance]
  • log4PHP [use this highly configuable package to log to a file, DB, XML...] Will show how to setup and configure Log4PHP and describe the advantages of a config file based logging package.  Will then show how to set up a single logging server to log entries for multiple physical web servers.

As always, meetings are free and open to all

The post meeting will be help at Barley Mill Pub
